Oregon House GOP Ousts Parish from Leadership

Written by Steve Herman on February 25, 2014

SALEM, Ore. (AP) – The Oregon House Republican Caucus has ousted Rep. Julie Parrish from its leadership team.

Parrish, of West Linn, was the deputy Republican leader, the No. 2 position in the leadership for the minority party. GOP lawmakers voted Monday evening to replace her with Rep. John Davis of Wilsonville.

Parrish is serving her second term in the state House. She’s been one of the most outspoken and visible Republicans in the Legislature.

Parrish says she wishes the new leadership team well and will focus on her re-election campaign and other projects she’s working on. She declined to say why she was replaced, saying caucus meetings are private.

Rep. Sherrie Sprenger of Scio was elected whip, the No. 3 position. She replaces Rep. Wally Hicks, who is not seeking re-election.
