The National Weather Service has issued a freezing rain advisory for the Portland and Vancouver metro area during Monday’s morning commute.

Forecasters say to watch for freezing rain between 4 a.m. to noon, in the Portland area, while the warning for the Columbia River Gorge will continue through the evening hours.

Several school districts in southwest Washington and the Portland area announced another day of closure Monday.  Get a complete list of closures or delays here.

The clean up begins for many who spent the weekend inside, heading the warning of many local governments who asked residents to stay off the roads during the snowy and icy conditions. Portland city officials used the federal Emergency Wireless Alert system for the first time on Sunday, telling residents to stay off the roads.

As many head back to work Monday, officials are  warning motorists to drive carefully and people to stay clear of tree limbs that could break when laden with snow and ice.
