Portland, Oregon – This week’s cold snap has prompted the Red Cross to once again open an emergency warming shelter tonight at the Imago Dei Community at 13th and SE Ankeny. The center can accommodate up to 150 people. The doors open at 9p.m. and the guests can remain until 7a.m.

Red Cross volunteers and staff will provide blankets, sleeping mats and warm beverages. Pets are welcome too and can be put in crates during their stay. This is the 16th night this winter they’ve opened the center. They’ve  had 1,428 overnight stays during that time and have housed 80 pets.
