SALEM, OREGON   A less than aggressive agenda is how Governor John Kitzhaber describes the 35 day session that starts today.  Lawmakers will talk about Pot Legislation and what would happen here if voters approve legalizing weed for recreational use.

The problems with the roll out of the Cover Oregon website will be front and center.  Lawmakers want the state executive office to give a full accounting of why things went South and what’s the plan for fixing it.  The legislature wants to be a full partner in the audit process.  The Governor’s office hire First Data last month to conduct an audit of Cover Oregon.

The Columbia River Crossing Project promises to take up lawmakers time.  The Governor believes we should move forward with the new bridge.  Oregon has until March 9th to remain a player.  Many legislators want to see more dialogue from Washington State. Washington has until March 15th to make it’s commitment to moving forward with the new bridge.   A lively debate is expected on the Senate side concerning added restrictions to gun ownership by private citizens.
