An investigation is continuing after the death of a child earlier Saturday at a YMCA in Sherwood. Just before noon emergency crews were called because a child was not breathing. Our news partner KGW is reporting that the child was taken to the hospital but was pronounced dead at that point.
“We have no reason to believe there’s anything other than medical concerns that indicated the phone call”, says Capt. Ty Hanlon with Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue.
Authorities have not identified the child or the cause of death. The Columbia – Willamette YMCA released a statement saying their prayers go out to the family and that the safety of their participants and members is a top priority.
