The teachers union and the district was at it all night but still no deal. Both sides were expected to meet today but no word on whether that happened. Some Benson students competing at Bonneville Power Administration’s Annual Science Bowl today said they’re standing by their teachers.

“Whatever the teachers decide to do I’m in support of them. I know that they do this for the good of the students for the good of our education”.

Our news partner KGW talked to Mayor Charlie Hales’ office and learned the mayor has spoken to both sides and discussed the impact a strike would have.  He has no plans to get  involved in the negotiations.

The teachers are scheduled to vote on a strike later next week. The earliest they can walk out is ten days later.
