Hillsboro, Oregon – The Oregon International Air Show announced Friday the Canadian Forces Snowbirds jet demonstration team cancelled their appearance scheduled for September 19th – 21st.

The Snowbirds cancellation is part of budget cutbacks by the Canadian Military that has forced the Snowbirds to cancel all of their scheduled appearances at U.S. air shows in 2014.  As of now it does appear the Snowbirds will keep their planned shows in Canada.

Oregon Air show President Judy WIlley says she learned of the news in an e-mail from the team. “We are disappointed that the Snowbirds are unable to come to Oregon this year,” said Willey.  “We want to put on a world-class event for our great air show fans but right now we just need to regroup and discuss the possibilities of building a show this year that is highly entertaining, family-friendly, profitable and safe.”

Show Spokesman Herb Gillen tells KXL it’s unlikely they will change dates to try and attract either the Navy’s Blue Angels or the Air Force Thunderbirds but nothing is off the table.

The Blue Angels were scheduled to be the headline performer at the 2013 Oregon International Air Show and also canceled after their season was canceled due to sequestration.
