Keystone Cops and the Mayor Celebrate New Parks

Written by Mike Turner on January 30, 2014

The Keystone Cops with their rubber chickens and kid prisoners join the Mayor in celebrating the announcement that a pair of New Parks will be built in Northeast Portland neighborhoods. They’re considered to be the mascots of the Gateway Area Business Association.

The city promised residents in the annexed neighborhoods that they would eventually benefit from city services like parks and recreation. That promise was made 30 years ago and Gateway Urban Renewal co-chair Bob Ernest told us he didn’t think it would happen in his lifetime.

The two new parks will be built in the Hazelwood neighborhood in Gateway and the Argay neighborhood in Northeast Portland. They’ll cost 12 and a half million dollars and should be finished by 2017.
