VANCOUVER — 27 year old Brandon Smith appeared quiet with head down during court proceedings this morning. About a dozen family members were emotional during the short session. Smith is the suspect driver in the Hit and Run that killed to Vancouver mothers. Raisa Mosh and Irena Gardinant were walking in a crosswalk on Northeast Vancouver Mall Drive at 72nd Avenue when they were run over. Mosh died at the scene. Gardinant died in the hospital a day later.
In the most recent court documents police say Smith tried to conceal evidence. They seized a computer and found the day after the crash he purchased a grill replacement kit and new headlights to repair the front end damage on his white Toyota Tacoma pickup truck.
Eleven days after the hit and run he went to the police station and in the presence of his attorney he turned himself in. At the time of the arrest Vancouver police charged him with two counts of vehicular homicide, Tampering with physical evidence, three counts of felony hit and run and assault. His next court appearance is February 7th.
