Oregon Governor Sets Deadline on Columbia River Crossing

Written by Brett Reckamp on January 27, 2014

Oregon Governor John Kithzhaber sent a letter to Senate President Peter Courtney and Speaker of the House Tina Kotek late Monday telling they they need to either get something done on the Columbia River Crossing project by March 9th or he’ll have ODOT scrap the whole thing and begin archiving.

Oregon lawmakers already passed a $450 million dollar bill, but Washington lawmakers failed to match it.  Senator Courtney told KXL he has no intention of calling for another vote on this issue without support from Washington.

So far each state has spent $90 million dollars over ten-plus years in planning.  Kitzhaber says he notified both Washington Governor Jay Inslee and the feds of his deadline.
