Maupin, Oregon – Imperial Stock Ranch in Maupin has provided six thousand pounds of yarn to Ralph Lauren to create the red, white and blue cardigans U.S, athletes will wear during opening ceremonies at the Winter Olympics in Sochi next month.

Jeanne Carver says they got the call in July of 2012. But the company would only say the yarn was needed for a special project. They would learn much later it was for the Winter Olympics.

Carver says they’re humbled and honored to be part of this. She ” has great respect for the Ralph Lauren Company for doing the work that it took to find the partners and walk this  forward and actually manufacture everything here in this country. ” She says more than 40 companies have been part of the effort. She says ” that growing pride and connection to our team  that’s the most exciting part of this as we go ahead to Sochi.”

Imperial Stock Ranch has been in  the sheep business for 143 years. It’s currently operated by Jeanne and her husband Dan.
