VANCOUVER, Wash. (AP) – Police in Vancouver have arrested two people for investigation of witness tampering in connection with a hit-and-run that left two women dead.
Sgt. Troy Price said in a news release Saturday that 63-year-old Linda Smith and 21-year-old Kalista Andino had been taken into custody, and more arrests are expected.
Two women, 28-year-old Irina Gardinant and 45-year-old Raisa Mosh, were reportedly run down in a crosswalk on truck Northeast Vancouver Mall Drive Jan. 19 by a white pickup truck. Mosh’s 12-year-old son suffered minor injures.
Following the collision, Vancouver police launched a public campaign to find the white pickup, as well as a black pickup that drove by shortly afterward.
A white pickup with front-end damage was discovered at an apartment garage nearby, and the owner has refused to cooperate.
Smith and Andino were booked into the Clark County Jail. It was not immediately clear whether they had obtained lawyers.
