PORTLAND, Ore. – A Multnomah County, Ore., sheriff’s spokesman says a hiker who reported she was lost near Yeon State Park in the Columbia Gorge has been found.
Lt. Steve Alexander said the Salem woman, in her 20s, was in good condition and was being escorted to safety late Thursday night.
She called 911 about 5 p.m. Thursday, saying she set out on a hike to Munra Point from the state park trail head and hiked several miles but became lost.
Three search and rescue crews also set out to look for her at about 9 p.m. Just two-hours into the search crews caught a break and found her not too far off the trail. Alexander says she was not prepared to spend the night outside if she had to, and reminds people to always take emergency supplies.
Alexander says temperatures are in the upper 30s and strong winds have been blowing through the gorge.
