A while back, the staff of Oregon’s largest newspaper was trimmed. Now , the size of the paper itself is shrinking. Publisher N. Christian Anderson III says they’re converting the physical size of the newspaper to an easier-to-hold compact format. The paper will still be just as wide, 11 inches. Its height will shrink– from 23 inches to 15.
The conversion will begin with some sections in February. The entire newspaper will be in the compact format by April 2nd. The move comes months after the Oregonian shifted its focus to online news.
The conversion to a smaller print edition likely will save the company money.
