Fewer people died on Oregon roads in 2013. Preliminary figures from ODOT show the number of traffic-related deaths last year statewide was 317. The Oregonian reports that’s a drop of 6% from 2012.
Don Hamilton, who speaks for ODOT, calls it a “very encouraging trend”. He says more people seem to be getting the message that distracted driving and driving while impaired can kill you.
The number of traffic deaths in Oregon last year matches 2010 as the lowest number since 1943.
