18 year old Cinthya Garcia-Cisneros was found guilty on two counts of felony hit and run Wednesday. She was driving the SUV when it swerved into a pile of leaves in front of a Forest Grove home last October. Two young sisters, six and eleven years of age, were killed. Garcia-Cisneros felt a bump but thought she had hit a rock and left the scene.
The prosecutor argued that she had failed to perform the duties of the driver when she left and didn’t return to the scene when she learned what had happened later that evening. The defense argued there’s nothing in the law that requires a driver to do that. The jury disagreed and founder her guilty of both counts.
She could be sentenced from 16 to 18 months in prison on both counts. Sentencing is set for January 31st.
