62-year-old Joan Deyoung-Burklund was hit by a pickup truck early Monday evening when she was crossing the street to reach her mail box. Police say the 30-year-old driver was the one who called 911 and stayed at the scene.
“There was no alcohol or drugs involved. His driving was normal and within the speed limit which is 55 on that road. Kind of an up and down type road. So where she was struck was just at the crest of the hill”, said Sergeant Dave Thompson.
The Washington County Sheriffs Office says in the winter when its so dark it’s important to wear reflective clothing while you’re out or have a flash light. The driver is not facing charges.
