Bouncer Never Expected This

Imagine how many lives might have been lost if it weren’t for Jon Baer.  He was working security Saturday night at the Mystic Gentlemen’s Club in Southeast Portland.

Baer tells KXL’s Lars Larson a man, turned away earlier that night for wanting to fight, came back armed wearing a halloween mask.

At first, he thought it was a joke.  By the time the second shot was fired, Baer turned around to see his friend, also a security guard, on the floor.

Baer’s Army training kicked in.  He says he spun around and followed the shooter out the door.  Baer pulled his pistol and shot him twice.  He says he’s had his concealed weapons permit for about a year and a half.  He never expected he’d have to pull his gun.

Baer says police told him not to worry.  Though they took his gun as part of the investigation,  Baer expects it’ll be returned before too long.
