Damascas Police Officers Rescues Dog Stuck for 5 Days

Written by Brett Reckamp on January 6, 2014

Black Lab Sampson went missing on New Year’s Day.  His owner Greg Herbst put out the word, but was beginning to lose hope until Monday when someone heard a whimper.  They looked down a ravine near the Stone Cliff Inn Restaurant in Carver and saw the dog sitting on a ledge.  It looked like it had been down there for several days.

Damascas Police Officer Jerry Rippe heard the call and went to the ravine.  He saw Sampson down there, took some gear off, put on a helmet and made his way down.  Officer Rippe contacted the owner who showed up.  Sampson was plucked from the ledge and returned to his owner who says he is doing fine.
