Around The Block At Least 3 Times: Oregon Marriages

A lot of us have been married at least 3 times. Census figures show Oregon ranks in the top 10 in that department.  174,000 Oregonians have said “I do” with at least three different people.   Arkansas ranks #1 among states.

What does this mean?  One explanation is– life happens.  One of our listeners, Lisa, explained how she had 4 different husbands.  Her first marriage at age 21 ended after 10 months when her husband died in a motorcycle crash.

Lisa says her 2nd marriage, a long one, ended in divorce when her husband went “middle age crazy.”  A 3rd marriage ended when her spouse died of a heart attack at age 32.

In her current marriage, the 4th, Lisa says she’s happy.  She and her husband have a policy of “don’t leave.”  Lisa says even during heated arguments no one walks out the door.  Going to another room to cool off is okay.

As we said, life happens.
