Snowpack Far Below Normal

Today, hydrologists will trek up Mt.  Hood to measure the snowpack.  They have an idea of what they are going to find and it’s not good.  Hydrologist Julie Koeberle says there are 25 inches of snow at the measurement site, near Timberline, but if that were to melt, it would only equal 10 inches of water.  That is 41% of normal for this time of year.  Koeberle says other years have started off low and ended with normal numbers.  Other low years have not ended well though, and that could mean water restrictions for the summer.
