Autistic Teen Lost in the Gorge Rescued

Written by Christina Kemp on December 29, 2013

An autistic teenager lost in the Columbia River Gorge was found this morning. The 16-year-old hiker  got separated from his group around Horsetail Falls on Saturday December 29th. Search efforts on the ground and in the air were complicated by decreasing temperatures and visibility overnight.

Someone staying in at the Nesika lodge spotted Alex Irvin on the trail at 8:30 Sunday morning. He is in good condition and was just cold from being outside all night.

Our news partner KGW is reporting that this is not the first time Irvin has got lost on a hike. He went missing for three nights near Mount St. Helens in 2008.
