Thief Arrested for Stealing Christmas Packages

Written by Jeremy Scott on December 25, 2013

PORTLAND — A real-life “Grinch” hit a neighborhood, stealing packages right off porches around Northeast 22nd and Knot on the afternoon of Christmas Eve.

Police found 55-year-old Robert Leonard sitting in a vehicle with an open puzzle box from Amazon and a microwave oven, which appeared to be new but was not in a box.  He also had methamphetamine.

Leonard is charged with theft, possession of meth, probation violation and driving with a revoked license.

Another package with a coffee pot inside was recovered and returned to the owner.  There were reports of a second suspect casing the neighborhood, but officers did not find them.
