Fatal Christmas Eve Crash on Cornelius Pass

Written by Jeremy Scott on December 25, 2013

PORTLAND — Christmas Eve took a tragic turn when two vehicles collided head-on along Northwest Cornelius Pass Road just before 3:00pm, killing a man and injuring a woman.  Investigators believe that alcohol may have been involved.

45-year-old Neil Schneider of Scappoose died at the scene.  The other driver, Janie Edwards, 42 of Hillsboro is expected to survive.

“Witnesses reported observing the Honda Civic driving erratically prior to the accident,” said Multnomah County Sheriff’s Lieutenant Steve Alexander.

The road was closed from Kaiser Road to Skyline Boulevard for about five hours, meaning detours, especially for truckers.
