PORTLAND — Dozens of flights have been canceled and many others delayed at Portland International Airport today due to bad weather in other parts of the country. Some 15,000 flights were canceled over the weekend nationwide.
PDX is a busy place today and will be through the first of the year. Between last Friday and New Years Day, 600,000 people will go through the airport. That’s 6% more than last year.
“We went over to the kiosk and did all the check-in stuff and it said ‘flight canceled’, so we went up to the counter and they upgraded us,” one passenger said.
We found plenty of people who are taking it in stride looking forward to arriving in warmer destinations. ”We’re going to Disneyland actually”.
It’s a good idea check your flight status before you leave home. Officials recommend arriving 90 minutes to two hours early, longer for international flights.
Triple A projects that five and a half million people will fly between Christmas and New Years.
