HONOLULU — When the Oregon State Beavers play Boise State on Christmas eve in the Hawaii Bowl, they’ll likely not have their cheerleaders or band with them. And most of the player’s parents will probably stay home.
Lindsay Schnell covers the Beavers for Oregonlive. She tells FM News 101 from Hawaii that the cheapest plane ticket she could find to the islands was $1,000. That’s on top of hotel rates that Schnell says are “astronomical”.
Schnell says the OSU Athletic Department is in debt and can’t afford to help parents buy plane tickets to Hawaii. Plenty of tickets though are still available for the Hawaii Bowl.
