Months after what some are calling a disappointing Oregon International Air Show in 2013, organizers announced Thursday the Canadian Forces Snowbirds jet demonstration team will headline the 2014 show.
This marks the first time since 1993 that the Snowbirds will be at the Oregon Show and is one of only four scheduled shows for the team inside the U.S. in 2014.
“We are ecstatic that the Snowbirds will be making this rare appearance at our show in 2014,” said Judy Willey, President of the Oregon International Air Show, “Our air show fans have clamored for years to have the Snowbirds return to Oregon so this year we booked the September dates in order to bring the fans what they want. The Snowbirds are just the beginning of what is going to be a blockbuster lineup of world-class air show entertainment in the sky and on the ground at our 2014 show!”
The disappointment from 2013 came in part to the cancellation of the Navy’s Blue Angels demonstration team after the federal government cut their funding during sequestration. More disappointment came from Washington County Fair officials as both the Fair and the airshow were scheduled on the same weekend in July. That issue has also been resolved for 2014 with the Airshow on September 19th – 21st. It will be the first time the airshow will be held in September since 2005.
