Cover Oregon Enrollments Are On The Rise

Written by Mike Turner on December 16, 2013

DURHAM, Ore. — The Oregon Health Authority says an estimated 7,500 people have enrolled for private health insurance through Cover Oregon.  That’s up from just under a thousand one week ago.

Over 13,000 are now enrolled in the Oregon Health Plan, bringing total enrollment to just over 20,500 Oregonians.  Doctor Bruce Goldberg says they’ve hired a crew to oversee the work of code writers from Oracle.  Hundreds of others have been hired and are now working 24-7 to process claims.

Goldberg expects that over 110,000 will have health coverage under Cover Oregon by January 1st.  In the meantime, Oracle is being charged for the man hours and $18-20 million is being withheld by the state until the website is up and running.
