How does Oregon’s health exchange enrollment numbers stack up?
A report released by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services says only 44 people have signed up for private health insurance through Cover Oregon from October 1st to November 30th.
Michael Cox, a spokesman for Cover Oregon didn’t dispute the federal numbers when asked by the Salem Statesmen Journal. Cox pointed to this months numbers where 686 have signed up. Analysts say Oregonians are confused because people are supposed to compare plans and coverage using the website, however not buy them there. For that they need to fill out an old-school paper application.
Oregon makes up 1.2% of the 364,682 Americans who have purchased healthcare through government exchanges in the last two-months. California leads the nation in enrollment with 107,087.
