The Portland Police Bureau is launching a pilot program to teach boys self-defense. The Bureau says the program will be patterned after and have the same goals as WomenStrength and GirlStrength. Both have a 34-year history of success.
More than 110,000 females have taken the training. The goal for both the women and the boys programs is to help them feel strong and empowered.
The program is looking for volunteer self-defense instructors. No experience is necessary, but you must be over 18 to apply.
