Fresh pears are in abundance right now-and as Oregon’s “Official state fruit”, thought this libation would be a good one to enjoy with friends.
2 (Anjou or Bartlett) pears-cored and sliced, 2 Granny Smith apples-cored and sliced, 20 whole cloves, 1 tsp. nutmeg-ground, 3oz. Damiana liqueur,1-750 ml bottle dry while wine-chilled, 1-750 ml bottle champagne-chilled.
Place pears, apples, nutmeg and cloves into pitcher or punch bowl. Add liqueur, stirring gently, add in wine. Chill for at least 3 hours. Before serving, add champagne. Pour into ice filled wine glasses. Let some of the fruit float to the bottom of the glass
