The Oregon Trail Chapter of the American Red Cross is offering classes to help kids achieve some independence. The class is called "When I'm in Charge" and is geared towards 8-11 year olds. Scott Linstrom teaches the class. He says he teaches kids how to answer the door and phone politely without revealing that the parents aren't home. He also teaches kids how to keep themselves and their siblings safe.
