Howry's Insight on the Ducks

Keenan Howry former Ducks and NFL wide receiver joins The Bald Faced Truth with John Canzano to talk Ducks and his take on the Fiesta Bowl. Howry also gives his input on Chip Kelly moving from NCAA to the NFL.

As the Ducks move forward with the Bowl game after a terrific 2012 season, Howry is very proud to have been a part of the Mike Bellotti era and to be a part of the ground breaking organization that is the Oregon Ducks.

“It’s amazing, you know it’s something that I know we all kind of strive for back when we were playing to get to this elite level and to try to make it to where were looking for national titles every year. It’s good to see that the teams been able to be right there for the last four years, in the hunt, with a shot for the title every year”.

The Ducks have spent a lot of time the last couple years using their running game to dominate other teams; this recent season however the ducks have been trying to do more and get more versatility on the field to throw their opponents off balance.

“They still do, it’s all predicated of the run game now. Everything is play action where they can still throw deep. They have good receivers now it’s just the running game isn’t working so well for them now it’s kind of hard to go against what they’ve been doing”.

Howry really enjoyed playing football just for the game itself; he finds it hard to see players who don’t play for the experience but because they have to. Howry sees his experience with the Ducks as a great one and would be happy to play football for as long as he can. Howry believes that Chip Kelly could make the transition to the pro's and be a great head coach for any NFL team.

“I don’t see why he wouldn’t. As you can see most of the quarterbacks being drafted now a days are that type of quarterback. You go from Cam Newton to Dennis Dixon to RG3 and you see how he’s been able to work for them. You know different reads that their making is pretty much what Chip does. To his benefit he’s been doing it well ever sense he got to Oregon”.
