The story of Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer starts in 1939, when Montgomery Ward copywriter Robert L. May is asked to create a Christmas themed story for a coloring book, which would be handed out during the holiday season to children visiting Wards stores.  Here's a fanciful punch (adults only by the way) you can serve during the season.

Ingredients: 48 oz. beer (lager style), 28 oz. cranberry juice, 4 cups hot water,2 cups fresh cranberries, 4oz.fresh lime juice, 3 limes, sliced, 3oz. cinnamon flavored simple syrup.

Preparation: Place cranberries in a bundt pan, add 4 cups of hot water. Place bundt pan in freezer and allow to freeze solid. Prior to serving, add all other liquid ingredients to a punch bowl and stir. Remove frozen cranberries from freezer and bundt pan and add to punch bowl to chill beverage. Add lime slices for color.

Cinnamon Flavored Simple Syrup: 2 cups water, 1.5 cups sugar, 5-6 cinnamon sticks. Place all ingredients into a sauce pan. On the stove, bring mixture to a boil, stirring to dissolve sugar. Simmer for 10-12 minutes. Remove cinnamon sticks. Allow to cool. Transfer to a bottle or jar.
