Friends and family of 21-year old Tyler Burton are still in shock. The Vancouver man was punched, police say, by 20-year old Andres Rodriguez on a narrow sidewalk in Chico, California early Sunday morning. Witnesses said the two bumped while passing, and that Rodriguez's punch was unprovoked. He has since been
arrested and charged with Assault leading to Grave Bodily Harm.
Meanwhile Burton remains in a medically induced coma in a California hospital after several emergency surgeries to relieve pressure on his brain. On Wednesday doctors say the swelling had begun to go down, but according to a family friend his conditioned has worsened as of this morning.
His best-friend and quasi step-sister, Christina Van Delden, has set up a Facebook page, "
Praying for Tyler Burton", along with a Chase bank account where people can make donations to help with Tyler's medical expenses. She calls Tyler the ultimate people-person, and someone everyone seemed to think of as a friend.
Donations can be made to Tyler Burton by going to any Chase bank location, and filling out a deposit slip with the name “C. VANDELDEN” and the account no. 135656230.
