Fire Burns NE Portland Bar and Apartments

October 10, 2012, 10:47 am

An early morning fire damaged a building that houses a bar and apartments at Northeast 18th and Alberta.

Crews showed up to find heavy smoke on the first and second floors. The Nest Lounge is on the bottom level with apartments above. The fire started in a stairwell inside the bar. Investigators are still searching for the exact cause.

Everyone got outside safely. Three residents are being assisted by the Red Cross. One cat needed some tender loving care. It was given oxygen for smoke inhalation.
