Are You An Illegal Trying To Change Your Community? Cornelius Is The Place For You!
The illegal train keeps on rolling! This time it's in Cornelius. The local police chief has said that non citizens deserve to have a voice in their community.
Here is an excerpt from OregonLive:
You don’t need to be a citizen to have a voice
in the government, says Cornelius
Police Chief Paul Rubenstein. Rubenstein addressed a group of about 30
people Saturday morning at the first Spanish town hall meeting led by the Community
Oriented Policing Citizen Advisory Board, a volunteer group in Cornelius
that serves as a bridge between city residents and the police. Cornelius
Mayor Jef Dalin, City
Manager Rob Drake and some City Council members were also present. It is
important for Latinos to have a voice in their community, Rubenstein said,
because when residents participate, it forms a government that is
representative of all groups in the community. The meeting took place at Centro Cultural, a cultural center in
Cornelius that serves Latinos. The room was divided between Spanish speakers
and English speakers. Rubenstein addressed the group in Spanish, while an
interpreter translated for the English speakers. No law enforcement agency of
the State of Oregon or of any political subdivision of the state shall use
agency moneys, equipment or personnel for the purpose of detecting or apprehending
persons whose only violation of law is that they are persons of foreign
citizenship present in the United States in violation of federal immigration
laws.
I had Chief Rubenstein on the Northwest Show to defend his comments. Let's just say that he didn't do a great job of convincing on conservative talk show host...
