There are some unique business opportunities suddenly opening up around here. Have you heard that the Historic Clinton Street Movie Theater in Portland is for sale? The theater on the corner of 26th and Southeast Clinton is home to many film festivals, independent movies and of course the Rocky Horror Picture show every Friday and Saturday night. The asking price is 124-Thousand dollars. Just something to think about.

Or.... you could own a liquor store in the state of Washington. As you know, voters have decided that the state should get out of the liquor business as of June, so the state is auctioning-off its existing stores. There are 9 in Clark County, including 5 in Vancouver. The minimum bid is $1000. (A lot cheaper than a movie theater). If you're the winning bidder you'll still have to negotiate a lease, apply for a retail liquor license, and stock you store shelves. Part of that challenge is deciding what products to sell. The big box stores (like Costco, Safeway, and Fred Meyer) will be carrying all of the most popular brands, so you might be wise to opt for the locally-produced stuff.
