CRC Project Funding Passes Oregon House

A new bridge on Interstate Five between Oregon and Washington is closer to reality after the Oregon House of Representatives passed House Bill 2800 today with a bipartisan vote and 45-11 majority.

$450 million dollars in bonds was approved to help pay for the Columbia River Crossing.  The bill now moves to the Senate for approval.

Oregon's funding relies on a match by Washington State, over $1 billion in federal dollars, and a permit by the Coast Guard.

The $3.4 billion project has been years in the making and drawn its share of critics.  The new bridge will carry vehicles, bicyclists, light rail and pedestrians with new interchanges on both sides.
