ended his 55-day hunger strike outside Portland City Hall this morning with a vegan Bavarian cream, peanut butter, banana and chocolate chip doughnut donated by Voodoo.
On a liquid diet, Whitten lost nearly 35 pounds since June 2nd.
Whitten says he made progress with housing fairness. A first-ever regional housing summit will be held in November.
He says he's in a discussion with city leaders for a site similar to
Dignity Village and pushing forward policies on the camping ordinance. Whitten says he plans to address the fines on the Right to Dream 2 homeless camp in Old Town too.
