Whitten's big bite

July 26, 2012, 11:15 am

Occupy activist Cameron Whitten ended his 55-day hunger strike outside Portland City Hall this morning with a vegan Bavarian cream, peanut butter, banana and chocolate chip doughnut donated by Voodoo.

On a liquid diet, Whitten lost nearly 35 pounds since June 2nd.

Whitten says he made progress with housing fairness.  A first-ever regional housing summit will be held in November.

He says he's in a discussion with city leaders for a site similar to Dignity Village and pushing forward policies on the camping ordinance.  Whitten says he plans to address the fines on the Right to Dream 2 homeless camp in Old Town too.
