Over the weekend we learned the Mark Helfrich was going to take over the Ducks program now that Chip Kelly is headed off to the pros.  And a lot of people are curious as to how the players feel about the decision.  Ducks safety Brian Jackson joined Chad on Flight 750 to talk about the hire and where the team is heading under the Helfrich regime.

Jackson insists that even without Chip Kelly, the Ducks will continue to remain one of the best teams in the conference and in the country.

“It’s just been a great ride here so far and with Coach Helfrich taking over, it’s going to be a real good change of pace.  I can’t wait to see what happens.”

Jackson also maintains that since it looks like the majority of the Oregon coaching staff will remain intact, there really will not be a very big change for the team to move from Kelly to Helfrich.

“You know the teaching styles can be different so you might be learning separate things from which you’ve previously been taught.  But there’s no breakup in that we’ve still got the same people and that makes it easy for us.”

And finally, Jackson about the successful freshman season of quarterback Marcus Mariota.  Jackson insists, that Mariota is really just scratching the surface of his success.

“I don’t care what anybody has to say, that’s one of the best college quarterbacks I’ve seen in quite a while, and it’s cool to play with him, cool to talk to him all the time – I mean he’s going to be special for this team coming back.”
