The
Under Armour All-America High School football game is an annual game where high school football players get to showcase their skills before moving on to the college level. Former NFL head coach Steve Mariucci joined BFT guest host Fletcher Johnson to discuss the NFL playoffs and being a coach in the Under Armour game.
The Oregon Ducks capped off a great season by beating Kansas State in the Fiesta Bowl which has put head coach Chip Kelly in a position to possibly leave Eugene for the NFL. Steve Mariucci talked about the possibility of Chip making the transition from college to the pros.
"Certainly he's a quick study and a smart guy, if there's anything missing in his resume it's a little bit of pro experience but it's not necessarily the tell all. I think he's gonna be a successful coach wherever he ends up."
Making the coaching transition from the college level to the NFL isn't always easy. Mariucci talked with Fletcher about his own experience jumping to the NFL.
"Lucky that I had some pro experience previously I had been the quarterback coach of the Green Bay Packers and coached Brett Favre, I was the quality control coach for the Los Angeles Rams and John Robinson so after I left Cal and went to the 49ers at least I had some NFL experience I could fall back on."
Coach Mariucci and Fletcher also talk about the Under Armour All-America High School football game that Mariucci has the honor of coaching in.
